I didn't mean to offend anyone. And I admit my answer was quite curse.
Phil has explained the issues well. By their nature, computers and
networks handle error correction much better than CD-players, if only
because it doesn't have to be a one chance real time correction.

My main point was the suggestion in the note that lossless compression
on a PC is a dangerous thing. It just isn't. I trust my zip files as I
trust others and I trust my FLAC files as I trust wav.
