Thought I'd chip in because I haven't posted for ages(!) and I went through this exact process.
I ripped 800-ish CDs to WMA lossless. Easy to rip in Windows and easy to tag (WMP works great at getting tags from AMG). Very good for the price! In terms of convenience v quality of rips, I'd still use it every time. It all sounded fine and I was OK in my Netgear MP101 and JRiver days. Now I rely almost soly on Logitech products for my music and I find the support for FLAC much better. There must be a larger user base and potentially more testing done on these formats? I had problems with tagging that people using mp3 or flac didn't see. This could all be sorted now. I converted the library to flac a long time ago. It's been trouble free since. Both sounded fine to me (which they should, since they're both lossless), but flac is better supported by more tools in my experience. I used dbpoweramp to batch convert the whole lot. Kept both libraries for quite a while until I was sure the process had worked. My WMA library is now an ex-library!
