A lossles rip can always be transcoded to a lossles format for your daily use.
ripping lossy is a waste of time, if later down the road one wants to use a different format, if you have the original rip's in a lossles format like flac. Then you can batch convert to something else . converting lossy to lossy gives you problems in the end . Besides a lossles rip is a backup of your CD , if your kids trash it or the house burns down you have the files on your of-site backup disc (note to self by that extra usb drive now, I have not finalized my extra backup yet ) I think FLAC is an excellent choice as an archiving standard as EBU has adopted it as such ? it support many channels and bit-rates -- Mnyb -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: SB3 (soon to replaced by a Touch :) It is on preorder) Bedroom/Office: Boom Kitchen: Receiver (soon to be replaced by my SB3 and the SBR to be stuffed in a box in the attic ) Miscellaneous use: Radio (battery pack to be ordered) I use a Controller various ir-remotes and a Eee-PC with squeezeplay to control this ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75046 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list ripping@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
