I think you are part of the way there, or most of the way. By listing albums by band, it should do what you want. However, you may need to look into the field you have listed as "Album Artist" and whether that is really in the BAND tag. This is often the case with MP3's and requires playing with the server settings to make sure BAND is recognized as an alternative to Album Artist, if that is indeed the case. I do think that for an album to show up as a compilation on this system, the "Album Artist" field has to be blank. I am not a big fan of that, so I use the method I show below: This is a completely different approach: I actually use the Custom Browse plug-in to create a menu that is specifically based on "Album Artist". The reason I do this is that I often set the song artist to include guest artists when they occasionally show up (e.g. BB King on U2's Rattle and Hum), and I don't want these albums to end up as compilations when they really aren't. I find the Custom Browse option is just a little less cumbersome, and I can set up a separate "Song Artist" menu that lets me find all those little tracks and odds and ends when I need to. For my compilations, I just set the Album Artist Tag to "Various Artists" and then I can browse to Various Artists in my album artist "Custom Browse" menu. Anyway, this is just an off the wall idea that you might find usable. -- emalvick ------------------------------------------------------------------------ emalvick's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35382 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79174 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
