I would say that at _least_ 1/4th of the artists in my collection
couldn't easily be pigeonholed into any one (or even two or three)
genres.  In any case, it doesn't really matter.  If you organize
things

/genre/artist/album/....

and you want to find a particular artist, it can become damned hard
trying to find them.  A simple

/artist/album/...

organization makes things much easier.  Since I do all of my listening
through Squeezebox Server, I can still easily browse by genre, and it's
much better than doing so through the directory structure, as you can
assign multiple genres to albums and tracks.  I use straight directory
access almost exclusively for library maintenance, not browsing.
