Assume: Album Artist = Chipmunks Track 1 Artist = Alvin Track 2 Artist = Theodore Track 3 Artist = Simon ---and that all of the above info is captured in the FLAC tag A. If you have NO COMPILATION data in the tag: 1. It doesn't matter if you choose "List compilations under each artist" or "Group compilation albums together" 2. The SBS list of Artists will include only Chipmunks 3. You can successfully search for tracks by Alvin, Theodore and Simon B. If you have COMPILATION=1 in the tag: 1. If you choose "List compilations under each artist" the SBS list of Artists will include Chipmunks, Alvin, Theodore and Simon 2. If you choose "Group compilation albums together" the SBS list of Artists will include NONE of them. All the tracks will be under "Various Artists" 3. In either case you can successfully search for tracks by Chipmunks, Alvin, Theodore and Simon C. If you do NOT have any ALBUM ARTIST info in the tag 1. If you choose "List compilations under each artist" the SBS list of Artists will include Alvin, Theodore and Simon (but not Chipmunks) 2. If you choose "Group compilation albums together" the SBS list of Artists will include NONE of them. All the tracks will be under "Various Artists" 3. In either case you can successfully search for tracks by Alvin, Theodore and Simon (but not Chipmunks) Now whether this is of any use to you or others is another question entirely - but the point here is that having an Album Artist in every FLAC tag is not necessarily the same as having COMPILATION data in the tag. And having a COMPILATION tag WILL cause different SBS behavior.
