its not about listing under each one, its about the functional "grouping and sorting" purpose of the field. in popular usage an AA tag is meant to handle situations where you have differing artists on a single album, (for both comps and non-comps, ie. those with guest artists). its def not meant to be a replacement for the artist field. that is obvious and not controversial.
