its not about listing under each one, its about the functional
"grouping and sorting" purpose of the field.

in popular usage an AA tag is meant to handle situations where you have
differing artists on a single album, (for both comps and non-comps, ie.
those with guest artists). its def not meant to be a replacement for
the artist field.

that is obvious and not controversial.

when you put the track artist as the album artist, that mangles the
intent of that tag. it may satisfy someones desires for getting the
results they want out of SBS, but thats doesn't mean it isn't misused.

not an itunes expert, but i would think there'd be problems in some
area of that as well. of course, itunes sucks, but they don't advocate
making AA mean A either.

not sure what you mean there, but i have never seen anyone else
anywhere suggest that the AA tag should equal the A tag on an album
which had multiple artists, comp or not.

again, it may result in an exp that SBS or the users is happy with, and
thats grand if so, but it certainly is mangling the intended usage of
the tag/field.

u seem to be the one looking for a fight. i would suggest that since
SBS only reads files, and doesn't create them, the OP, like everyone
else, uses something else in addition to SBS.
