Before I start ripping my classical collection I would like to make sure that I don´t mess this up. If you have the time to read through this and comment on my regime I will be very grateful.
I try to follow the recommendations from the wiki "BeginnersGuideToClassical". I use the ARTIST tag for composer, and ALBUM tag for work: ARTIST: Sergei Rachmaninov ALBUM: Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2, in C minor / Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini - Ashkenazy - London Symphony Orchestra - Previn The Wiki states that: "A common strategy for the file name is to have it match the "title" tag as taggers find it easy to copy one to the other." I´ve chosen not to follow this advice, because I want to use roman numerals for movement number (Musicbrainz ClassicalStyleGuides), but not in the filename to make sure they are played in the right sequence. TITLE: Piano Concerto No. 2: I. Moderato I add the following tags for future use: CONDUCTOR, COMPOSER, BAND, OPUS, PERFORMER (is there a maximum number of similar tags, or can this include several artists?), LABEL and WORK. Have I missed something crucial? When it comes to directory structure I cannot seem to make up my mind... I tried /music/composer/album/track but what to do with Yuri Bashmet playing Schubert Schumann Bruch and Enesco? File under Various Artists of performer? Or should I break up the album and file under composer and work?
