Skip the robot... my collection is similar to yours and i worked my way
through it during a winter... incorporate it into your life while it
last e.g. when there are commercials on the telly, go and start the
next scan; it is also good exercise ;-)

I am also using dBpoweramp and for most modern music the covers and
tags that it finds are ok. Just verify the tags before you start the
rip.
Classical music is another beast; I am still looking for the right way
to tag...
