cd drive = plextor makes quality stuff, but many others are also good. 
sometimes older ones might even be beter, due to laser strength.  you
want a drive that will support getting "C2 error information" and
accurate stream.  i think most do.

you could use dbpoweramp if you want to pay, but i use EAC.  when you
rip, just put it in "burst mode" and make sure you get an accurate rip
result.  if you don't then try a slower speed.  most cds if in good
condition should be fine to get accurate rips with in burst mode, and
you can do lots of CDs fast that way.
