Like garym, I also recommend having separate ARTIST tags. So for your example I would have:
ARTIST=John Abercrombie ARTIST=Dave Holland ARTIST=Jack DeJohnette For ALBUMARTIST I'm not really sure what I would put. In the Robert Plant and Alison Krauss example I do the same thing as garym. In your case I may opt for ALBUMARTIST=John Abercrombie, Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette Also, for all of those "John Abercrombie Trio", "John Abercrombie Quartet", etc combinations my personal preference would be something like this: ARTIST=John Abercrombie Trio ALBUMARTIST=John Abercrombie ARTIST=John Abercrombie Quartet ALBUMARTIST=John Abercrombie That way all those various John Abercrombie combinations would show up under the artist listings as John Abercrombie.
