The plugins was what I was thinking of.  I don't use any that do, but
there are way more out there than I would ever use, so I threw out the
possibility.  

What you say about permissions is true, but how many people go to that
step? File security in Windows is such a hassle, that I don't even
bother with it.  Regular back-ups work better for me that file
security.  Although I guess that file security is much better in Linux
and can probably be made more effective.
