Hi, thanks for the replies.

I have now converted all my disk tags so that single cd albums have no
disk tag and multi cd albums do. I also changed mulitdisk album Titles
by removing any reference to the disknumber from which it came. ie same
album title for all discs in the set.

Now the touch Album list displays them perfectly, as planned.

A bonus is that when browsing more albums fit on the screen for
selection. Before I did as others have done and had disc 1, disc 2 in
the album title for each disc. These would then both show up in the
list when browsing. Now I just get Album xxx whether its a mutli-disc
set or not.

On selecting an album it then shows the tracks like this:

Single Album cd's show with just track numbers

1 - Track title

Multi cd's show with disc number and track number in one long list

1.1 - Track title
....
2.1 - Track title

If I playing from the first track then the player will then play
through the entire disk set automatically without need to manually
select all disks in the set.

The cool part (for others).... If I now change LMS settings to 'Treat
multidisk sets as multiple albums' the multidisc albums then show up
in the album list as

Album xxxx (Disc 1 of 2)
.... with tracks listed as
1.1
1.2

Album xxxx (Disc 2 of 2)
.....with tracks listed as
2.1
2.2

So you can have it both ways and can easily choose at will which way
you want your multidisc albums to be displayed. But first you have to
make sure that album and disc number tags are set correctly for
multidiscs thing to work properly.
