My approach, given LMS is my primary music server, is to go with the flow.
For all "compilations" I set the COMPILATION tag and remove ALBUM ARTIST For everything else I set ALBUM ARTIST to the *sorting* name of the principal artist - so I change "Phil Collins" to "Collins, Phil" for example but leave groups untouched. Then the track ARTIST is the display name for the artist that I want to see, in the previous example "Phil Collins". I use mp3tag with discogs to fixup release info and tags (removing parenthesised artist disambiguation suffixes) and have to remember to explicitly empty the ALBUM ARTIST tag on compilations, but as that function doesn't touch COMPILATION tags they are left as-is from the original ripping (using dbPowerAmp). I have to still decide what I eventually want to do with multi-artist tags as there are various conventions but because I have more to do with my life, even in lockdown here, I tend to just go with whatever discogs has for the release. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Peter Galbavy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32718 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113834 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
