Will never happen. The protocol version was officially frozen at '11' in 1987 for political reasons (armed detente between vendors). The protocol has actually been modified many times since, but such changes are referred to as 'extensions' (which is how a quarter-century old low-level graphics protocol can natively support things like OpenGL, hardware graphics acceleration and full motion video).
