That's actually only true of Microsoft these days, and even less so than they used to be. Truth be told, once a recent Linux ( kernel ) is loaded, it doesn't use BIOS anymore, so is not subject to BIOS limitations. ( but BEFORE the kernel is loaded, it can be important ) It is subject to the file system "driver" limitations, but last I checked, EXT3 can access a 4T file. Total disk, I forget. ( although the kernel has acquired limitations by virtue of the virtual file system driver. The kernel talks to the VFS which talks to the hardware. A micro$oft-ism that is not a good direction IMHO ) -- Cowboy http://cowboy.cwf1.com Mythology, n.: The body of a primitive people's beliefs concerning its origin, early history, heroes, deities and so forth, as distinguished from the true accounts which it invents later. -- Ambrose Bierce, "The Devil's Dictionary" _______________________________________________ Rivendell-dev mailing list [email protected] http://caspian.paravelsystems.com/mailman/listinfo/rivendell-dev
