While on this subject (especially volume "normalization") I have a few comments:

1) I personally find the normalizing routine in rdimport works well for us (except see feature request below)

2) There exists code (see "mp3gain") that I think is open source that does a decent job analyzing an audio file (in this case an MP3 file) and figuring out where to set a normalization level such that it "sounds even to us humans" instead of simply finding the peak level in a file. Perhaps it can be incorporated?

3) Feature request: Can we have ability to set (as in the rdadmin program) normalization defaults in rdimport on a per group level? It is common that we would want music to be set at a little lower level then "drops", "imaging", "Liners", and "ID's", so that then our audio processing downstream will then "duck" any existing music audio and play the "Liner" over it clearly when sequing from one song to another. Currently our production people often forget (or in some cases I don't think the even "get it") to manually set this depending on what kind of file they are importing. Granted the "Gain" adjustment that exists in rdlibrary's "Set Markers" area works well for us to fix this afterwards, but in practice this comes only after hearing something ugly on the air!
