My personal experience with Optiplex machines has been good. I have
always found them to be reliable workhorses and have had no problems
with them running both Windows and various Linux systems. In the case of
Quasar we are currently running two that have behaved faultlessly since
we launched in 2014. Both are currently running CentOS-7/Paravel
installations with no issues. Assuming current models are built to the
same standard as the 'refurbs' I've have experience of I would expect
you would have any problems, Rich.

That was much more an industry-wide problem, (allegedly due to
problems with certain passive component suppliers in eastern Asia),
which reached its peak in the mid/late-2000s and has been in steady
decline ever since. I have no specific experience with the Dell
Optiplex line, but I would not expect it to have any particular
problems with failed capacitors relative to any other reputable brand.
