 Kinda the same thing here mine gets stuck/freezes at searching for 
ethernet---just hangs there. Tryin' to install in safe mode gets me all the 
way thru but then fails at loading software---guess something is broke!! 
Mandrake and SuSE are runnin' fine along with Debian, all on this same box so 
something is'nt right. Since I am an end user ,and know zilch bout 
programming etc ,can't offer anything else than its broke---sorry, but just 
dropped this line to let you know you are'nt alone
