Todd, You got me going in the right direction. At Freshmeat I found 130 some applications under the topic of "file manager". I found what I'm looking for in an application called TkDesk. It runs on any X window system using Tcl/Tk, has 2 panes, and supports drag and drop.
I did check into the file managers you mentioned. The problem for me with Midnight Commander, Nautilus, and Konqueror is they require either the Gnome or KDE desktop environments. I want to avoid the overhead involved in running a whole desktop system. I'm using the fvwm window manager which has a very small footprint and since the machine functions only as a personal server, I don't want to load a heap of bloatware on it. I only use its X windows to do maintenance. Thanks a ton. You guys are always a big help. - Craig ----- Original Message ----- From: "Todd A. And personally, I don't find it difficult to open a second file manager window for drag and drop, so I really can't advise you on other dual-paned file managers. I still think Sourceforge/Freshmeat is your best bet. -- Find my Techno-Geek Journal at http://www.codegnome.org/geeklog/ _______________________________________________ RLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.rlug.org/mailman/listinfo/rlug
