The way I'm most successful with Bittorrent is to:

1. Install program

2. Download to your home directory the Bittorrent seed. It usually has the same name as the download, but with .torrent appended to the end. That download is brief.

3. Open a terminal.

4. Become root.

5. type 'btdownloadheadless /home/<complete seed title>

6. Hit enter.

7. The torrent process will begin IN THE TERMINAL and continue there, with the progress shown by various indicators.

8. Note: Sometimes the torrent doesn't start downloading immediately, so be patient as it finds places from which to acquire the download. However, it should not be a lengthy wait.

Additionally, the torrent speed often starts quite slowly, but usually gains speed as more sources are located and more people are sharing the download.

This is a completely non-technical explanation. Others may wish to clarify any misinformation that I might have inadvertently included.

I hope this helps. Good luck.
