Thanks guys on the suggestions of other ROM derivatives! But, now I have
something else to add... With everyone talking about OLC and how much
better OLC 2.01 can be over OLC 1.81, I've decided on something. A while
back I coded a simple OLC editor for a Merc 2.2 MUD, and found out it
wasn't as hard as many made it out to look like. I.e. I know people that
are just plain (!)afraid(!) to even look at the files! Now, I'm not
promising ANYTHING, (!)but(!) I really do want to contribute to the
MUDding community, as I haven't had a chance to yet (I'm only a year old
when it comes to MUDding). I propose a simple, easy to use, easy to
install, fully customisable, and rish featured OLC. I wish to have:

A) Area Editing
B) Mobile Editing
C) Object Editing
D) Room Editing
E) Reset Editing
F) Help Editing
G) Social Editing
H) Command Editing
I) Class Editing
J) Race Editing
K) Skill/Spell Editing
L) Clan Editing
M) The Addition Of MOBPrograms and MOBProgram Editing
N) The Addition Of OBJPrograms and OBJProgram Editing
O) The Addition Of ROOMPrograms and ROOMProgram Editing
P) Music Editing (OH YEAH!)
Q) Bootup Configure Editing
R) An FTP Client For C Source Files
S) Pfile Editing
T) Title Editing For That Stupid title_table
U) Maybe even dynamic help file editing (?)

And I plan to modify existing code in files as least as possible.
I also plan to keep all this in just a few files as I hate how OLC 2 adds
millions of files (I.e. the dumbest of all -- allocfunc.h). I.e.:
mudprog.c
mudprog.h
olc.c
olc.h
And thats all.

I'm sorry if this seems like a fleeting dream to most of you, but I
already have it planned and started on redit last night. I really do hope
this will be as good. All I'll have to do is use Oasis OLC (For string
editing -- they have some good stuff), Ivan's OLC for some guidelines to
ROM specific code, SSM (Shared String Manager) which compliments OLC very
nicely, and Erwin's code for mudFTP, sedit, and other code, and Smaug
v1.4a for MUDPrograms.

Area files will resemble Greed 0.99.14:

Name The Temple Of Midgaard~
Descr
You are in the southern end of the temple hall in the Temple of Midgaard.
The temple has been constructed from giant marble blocks, eternal in
appearance, and most of the walls are covered by ancient wall paintings
picturing Gods, Giants and peasants.
Large steps lead down through the grand temple gate, descending the
huge
mound upon which the temple is built and ends on the temple square below.
Equally large steps lead UP through a small door into the ENTRANCE to
MUD
SCHOOL. (type 'up' to go to MUD SCHOOL.) A small plaque is on this
wall.

Sorry if I've been too spammy, but I really do think this is going to be
it, the most advanced ever.
I hope I'll also be able to make patches for other codebases and text
instructions for heavily modified codebses. Please don't laugh I really,
really, really am going to try at this.

P.S. Ivan -- if your reading this, please don't think I'm challenging
you, heh.
