Zimbra exploded onto the scene sometime last year. Their AJAX stuff is *very* slick. The downsides are that their platform has a huge footprint (it carries with it all of the programs which most of the "rollup" open source groupware systems use for smtp/imap/etc. plus an entire JVM and an entire copy of MySQL), and a lot of the people who have tried it have said that it has the responsiveness you'd expect from a Java application. They've definitely nailed the UI from a visual perspective, though. It's a good example of where you can go if you have the opportunity to build using AJAX from the ground up, if you don't have an existing system to retrofit. What I find curious about Zimbra as a business is that they seem more interested in finding investors and partners than in finding actual users right now.
