It's specific to kstars.
It's built on top of common DCOP functionality, if I understood it correctly.
Of course, pretty much all of KDE programs offer one or several DCOP interfaces. Start kdcop to get an idea :-). But the nice dialog to help creating scripts is definitely kstars specific. That said, it shouldn't have a very strong dependency to it.
Notation tricks, autocomposition (a-la Band-in-a-Box) etc.
No idea what you mean by "notation tricks", but autocomposition can either be done entirely within RG, or through a simple external program which would "fill up" an RG file...
I'm not opposed to scripting in RG, in fact it's been one of my pet subjects for a loooong time, but after giving a lot of thought, I'm afraid that for music programs it's all fluff. I'm willing to be convinced otherwise, though.
