btw, if you're thinking about build-related stuff, remember that there 
is no earthly reason why sequencer/ builds to a library, it's only that 
way for historical reasons.  We could potentially make the sound/ 
directory build to a shared library usefully (which it currently does 
not) since both the sequencer and GUI link to it, but sequencer/ should 
just build to an executable.
