This seems counter-intuitive. Could you give me a synopsis of why? Channel as a track-level property seems fairly obvious, but giving each Segment an Instrument seems kind of odd, unless I'm misunderstanding. I label my tracks things like gtr1, gtr2, bass, flute, etc. To allow Track 1 (labeled gtr1) to change instruments to a trumpet three or four segments into the piece seems to me to be a pain in the rear. Then, if you're copying from Track 4 (the flute) to Track 1 (gtr), you have to go through the extra step of changing the instrument. > It all sounds likely to pose special difficulties for your proposal to use > more than one channel per Rosegarden instrument for special guitar effects. > I suggest you two might want to take this up with him, to avoid a future > train wreck. Yeah, there's a potential problem here. I haven't thought that much about how to actually make the guitar effects sound good. I've just been kind of brainstorming and spouting out how other programs that do tablature. It may be intractable to implement anyway, no matter where the channel is stored.
