Okay, now I better understand what you guys are talking about, and it makes more sense. When I was thinking of expanding the meaning of an instrument definition, I was thinking of bringing up a tabbed dialog. The whole thing gets a name, tuning (for stringed instruments), and maybe some master controls. Each tab would represent a mode, which contained a program number, detailed controls (midi effects), and the like. The first mode is always the default for segments that don't include a mode property.
My main point was to be able have a set of reusable presets -- a kind of meta-instrument. That approach has worked okay for me. > The track parameter box is already in SVN trunk. It doesn't change the I guess I better update my SVN copy. I stuck all the tuning and staff type parameters in a box which I called TrackParameterBox. Maybe they could be combined. While I'm thinking about the main with the parameter boxes and the bar buttons taking up so much of the screen, I was wondering why the whole thing couldn't be stuck in a split window, so you could shrink it all up. That's what Cakewalk does (or did. I use an old version.). Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
