That's an interesting point.  It doesn't prevent the entered notes from 
sounding in the matrix, sure enough (I didn't look elsewhere.)  However, if 
you rewind and hit play, muted tracks don't sound, even as the cursor sweeps 
over the events.

This has never confused me, and Rosegarden has behaved this way for years, so 
it's kind of an argument in favor of ignoring the whole proposal of altering 
the affected edit views in some way.

All of this thinking does give me a random general idea though.  There really 
should be a "play everything in this edit view" mode for playback.  Not 
having what I'm looking at play *has* confused me more than once.  It seems 
sensible and logical.  Kind of like how many audio editors have both "play" 
and "play selection" buttons.  Ours could be "play segments visible in this 
view."

Not that this random general idea is any kind of five alarm priority, mind 
you.
