That's interesting -- I was put off KDE4 very quickly when it first appeared, simply because of the ugly putty-like theme it used by default, and I probably never gave it the time it really deserved. It's good to hear from people who have found that it all works out for them. I'm happy at the moment with XFCE4, but alternatives are always nice.
