I forgot to note the generic compiled one provided by them in their
repository no wonder will run on OpenVZ either.

If it is a solution, I am interested, if it is none, I am honestly not as
this seems to be very specific to your case and that's nothing I usually do
with free support. Sorry for that.

In any case, you know have *three* problem cases:

- the other app
- rsyslog
- automake/gcc
