Hi Erik,

From the front page, if you click on "older versions and packages" on the
upper-right side, it gets you here:
http://www.rsyslog.com/downloads/download-other/

But it's not that obvious that you should go there for packages, because
the saying "older versions" kind of makes you ignore that link.

thanks! It's like invisibility cloak :)

it would be great if the wording was improved so that it reflects what it is.

I liked how the old site had down load link and repos right in the menu. At least Download link could be in menu under 'PROJECT'. I mean getting and installing of rsyslog is one of the main reasons one would come to the page.

On the plus side, if you click on the download link of versions on the
front page, you get to a page where you're also linked to the packages. The
only problem I see there is that for v8 stable you have no link to Debian
packages, even though there is a Debian repo for it:
http://www.rsyslog.com/downloads/download-v8-stable/

Right now it's a bit inconsistent, 'Current Versions' lists 3 versions which then point to different Ubuntu repos links:

stable: 8.2.1
Download: www.rsyslog.com/downloads/download-v8-stable/
Ubuntu repo: http://ppa.launchpad.net/adiscon/v8-stable/

stable: 7.6.3
Download: www.rsyslog.com/downloads/download-v7-stable/
Ubuntu repo: http://www.rsyslog.com/ubuntu-repository/

devel: 8.3.0
Download: www.rsyslog.com/downloads/download-v8-devel/
Ubuntu repo: http://ubuntu.adiscon.com/v8-devel/ - this link is not valid anymore (it has a link to http://www.rsyslog.com/ubuntu-repository/ so people eventually find the right repo)

Ubuntu repos links for 8.2.1 and 7.6.3 are correct but I guess it would make sense to either use PPA links for both or use http://www.rsyslog.com/ubuntu-repository/ for both.

With devel it works as expected.

Old rsyslog.com used to have package repositories linked from menu on
top.

It looks like there are no links to any package repositores (Ubuntu or
other distros) anywhere to be found by clicking on links rsyslog.com.

There is HELP menu item which has FAQ link www.rsyslog.com/faq/ which
has 'How to use the Ubuntu repository' which goes to
www.rsyslog.com/how-to-use-the-ubuntu-repository/ which is outdated, I
guess it should just go to www.rsyslog.com/ubuntu-repository/ instead
(which is where one eventually ends up by following the obsolete links)

There is also search that finds www.rsyslog.com/ubuntu-repository/which
seems current.

I know it's in state of flux so not sure what should happen, seems to me
that something like this would make sense:

   - links to package repositories and installation docs accessible
directly from the front page (and any page actually, if they are in the top
menu bar that is same for all pages)

   - update or remove the outdated FAQ answer

thoughts? Is this something that's already planned? I remember discusion
about what should happen to old Ubuntu repo (points people to new repo) but
no discussions about how people will find the new repo.
