With your parameters, this is normal. The switch does not have any
significant effect here.

Have a look at http://fozzie.homelinux.org/documents/rtnet/ for an
explanation (for all other readers: it's in German). Just note that the
authors used an older RTnet version and that some of their figures look
a bit "strange" (they admitted that they used a non-rt capturing system
for some measurements). However, they observed the same typical latency
shapes and explained it well.
