Hi All,
        I seem to remember a story in MR about how this error took hold.  The 
drawings used were from the EMD paint department, and since the idea 
was to show the paint scheme, no one really cared that the trucks were 
simplified in the drawings.  MR and some manufacturers picked them up 
without realizing they were incorrect.  Ten million Athearn sideframes 
later, someone noticed.  I think this story was in an MR, back in the 
dark ages when MR was good, with a Vic Roseman photo (tenuous S scale 
connection) of the Cummunipaw Engine Terminal in Jersey City on the 
cover if anyone wants to look it up.
