Hi Guys!

I often wondered how long it would take for Ron B. at American to come up with
an SD7/9 loco. He has all the running gear components, but the expensive
parts (frame, truck sideframes and shell) that have to be developed would
certainly be a concern. Maybe a future seed money project for the NASG? I
would also suggest an Alco RSD-4/5 would be an interesting American project...

  Subject: {S-Scale List} An SD-7 in S Scale?

A discussion on another list about the B&O's SD-7's started me wondering whe
ther there is any interest in the production of an S scale SD-7 in plastic?
Seems to me the questions to be asked include:

  - was there a large number of railroads that bought SD-7's, thus
insuring a potential manufacturer a broad customer base?

  - would it be possible to use some components from an existing
  model as a starting point?

  - In particular, like the prototype, could the GP-9 be used but
  with a different wheelbase?

I don't think one's be done recently in S scale plastic; defer to others
as to whether there's been a brass version.

  Welcome comments.
