hi group, i was the instigator of this thread with my wisecrack about
my 'excellent trackwork, ha ha'. actually it has held up quite well.
my original loops on open grid were of 2 layers of 3/8 pine fake
beaded board plywood left over from my house remodel. it was sawed to
my radius with a jig saw, glued and clamped with titebond 2, and the
pieces were held together with splines glued and screwed. so the cost
was zero. when i ran out of that i used birch 3/4 plywood ripped
straight, then angled 15 degrees on my miter saw to eliminate waste,
then splined together as before. cost about 40 bucks. my 1/4 homosote
was then glued again with titebond 2, then SANDED as i found out early
on this list that homosote is indeed NOT FLAT. my american models
sectional and flextrack was glued with light duty adhesive caulk per
model railroader. all of my buddies, mostly poor slobs who run HO, are
jealous.... dale reynolds, pendleton sc
