I am trying to lay out a pair of switches for either a #7 or #8 frog,
following the NMRA RP 12.2 diagram. I am trying to get the right distance
between the stock rails at several locations between the points and the frog,
but before the frog and the rails behind it are in place.
If I start from the switch point and go out dimension 2, (4-3/16"), I need to
go crosswise by dimension 4 (5/32") plus the track gauge (7/8") to get my stock
rail spread. Right?
Same for Dimension 13 of 6-9/16" or 6-7/8":the spread should be dimension 12,
(5/16" plus 7/8") Right?
Third checkpoint is Dimension 17, (8-7/16" or 9-3/8"), the spread is 1/2"+7/8"
or 1-3/8" .
Fourth checkpoint is point of frog, (Dim. 8 of 11-3/8" or 13-5/8") where the
spread would be 1/3/4"
Is this feasible, or am I leaving out some fudge factors or other items to be
considered.
Thanks Much
DJE
