Three point track gauges would be a great project for NASG to
consider. That would give the NASG Clearinghouse the entire array:
check gauges, coupler height and three point. Years ago Trainstuff
(Don Thompson's original business, not the current structure manuf.)
made three point gauges in white metal: Code 70, 83 and 100. Less
durable, but less expensive too. You could just buy them by the
handful!
One slight caution - I have seen older brass three point gauges made
to the NMRA track dimensions adopted in 1974; that is 0.0875" for a
rail gauge. In 1981 NASG adopted the current standards that reset the
rail gauge in S scale to the prototype 4' 8.5" between the rails
(0.883" on the gauge). That might be another good reason for NASG to
consider making these items.
