The American Models heavyweight passenger cars are the best in S scale!

I like mail trains, so I have baggage and RPO cars, plus a combine
for use as a rider car. These are all 72-foot cars. They look good to
me, but I don't know the prototypes or how accurate the models are. I
am not familiar with the coach and the observation.

Of the three 80-foot cars, the 12-1 and the 10-1-2 sleepers
accurately match plans that I've seen. The cafe car is inspired, I
believe, by the diner on the Jersey Central's "Blue Comet". All three
cars share the same roof, but the roof is accurate only for one of
the sleepers - I forget which. This is because Pullman provided cool
air to sections and rooms but not to corridors or storage lockers, so
the ducts on the roof should match the accommodations below.

While the cars currently available are produced by American Models,
mine came from the initial run years ago from S Helper Service. On my
cars with six-wheel trucks the end wheelsets of each truck have axle
ends that are pointed, while the center wheelset came with slightly
rounded axle ends. I figured this was to insure all three axles sat
on the rails, but a friend says it provides lateral movement on
curves. Whatever the reason, the center wheelsets have a tendency to
jump up and down when the cars are moving. I do not know if this is
truce about the American Models six-wheel trucks.
