Bill, your point is well taken. I have sent my 4 8 4 UP Northerns back to L and they are working on the smoke unit problem, as well as a forward only problem. With the high cost of todays S items , it is frustrating to not have engines operate properly out of the box. But, at least give he companies a fair shake at fixing the problems you may encounter.
