My apologies to all I offended by asking the list for help. I meant no
disrespect to S Helper Service to whom I am grateful for their service to S
scale and the production of a fine model of SW-1.

I believe the use of this list to ask for help is absolutely appropriate. I
wanted information from users like me. I already had the builder's directions.
Most companies do not have time for indivdual responses to separate users.
Some even have endless menus and website mazes to protect them for such
interference. (SHA probably excepted)

It does not reflect badly on a company to have their customers ask for help.
SHS is particularly strong and well supported. Don Thompson did, in fact,
answer my list request. He essentially told me the same thing that was in the
instructions (that I was unable to do in the first place) and offered to do the
job for me for $25.

I received an answer the next day from the list - not only a solution but
several suggestions and useful comments.

I hope the users of this list will not be discouraged from asking for help -
regardless of the source of their problems.

Please note that I did not say anything like "I just got this and it is broken"
I said I was unable to perform the instructions and asked for help. I was
emphasizing my inability and not blaming the maker. However, now that I am
pushed, I do think the solution I got from the list is better than the
directions offered by the manufacturer. It is conceivable to me that others
who have purchased this version of the SW-1 will benefit from the advice I
received. Something they would not have received if I had merely called the
company.
