Hi to all;
Just FYI: I have received a small number of SHS 2007 catalogs from Don
Thompson. I was quite pleased to get some promotional material from a
manufacturer, and it is the usual SHS excellent quality. Wonderful
photography, which I assume was done mostly or entirely by Bob Werre.
So, if you have a train show coming up, preferably a large one, I can send a
few catalogs out with the other NASG materials.
I know these must be VERY expensive to produce, and since I have such a
limited number, I ask that you give them out only to those who show a more
than passing interest in your displays.
Not trying to be elitist here. Just trying to get the biggest bang from our
limited promotional materials buck.
As an example, I will take about 6 only to our annual KC Rail Expo show and
sales meet in the fall at Union Station.
I will probably keep them under the table and give out only to those who
hang around and ask such things as "Where can I buy S trains?" Of course we
have the S buyers guide, a very effective marketing tool. But for the
excited, potential S gauger standing in front of me, that colorful 2007 SHS
catalog will be of considerable help in perhaps making the final little
nudge to get that person into S.
Another option, which might be better yet, would be to post in a conspicuous
place at the show and encourage interested folks to take one of the buyers
guides to get the SHS web site and for a pretty comprehensive list of other
S providers as well.
For those who have not seen the 2007 catalog: It is a large sheet, about
32"x23" unfolded, full color front and back. If unfolded and put on foam
core or suchlike, two copies, showing front and back, would make a rather
impressive visual for passers-by.
I understand that at best it's a judgment call deciding who gets what. But
I cringe at the thought of seeing these gems representing the state of the
art in S winding up in the circular file, perhaps even before the (lukewarm)
visitor leaves the building.
Cheers :)
