In a world where we had unlimited budges and could afford to distribute
unlimited numbers of handouts, there would be not so much concern about
getting them into the hands of the most interested.
In the REAL world, however, seems to me that we all have to be somewhat more
crafty in how we exploit our resources, to wit:
-Don Thompson's suggestion to charge the $3.00 cover price for catalogs.
-Ken's idea of just placing all promotional materials out of arm's reach, so
that they have to be requested.
-A money-back coupon in the catalog or a dollars-off coupon on the first
order.
-Use SHS catalogs as "posters" to grab the attention of passers-by.
I would like to see a DVD about NASG/S produced and available for hand out.
The per-price cost of each unit is pretty small, if one gets several
thousand produced. It could also be shown on continuous loop with a DVD
player/TV monitor at shows.
Any other ideas welcomed.
I want to remind everyone that we do have some really nice S banners that
are eye-catchers and can be borrowed rent-free for train shows.

I would agree that something like those should be hidden and availble to the
serious visitor. I recently had a setup at a train show and had a
handfull of flyers laid out.
They didn't last past the first day. People see freebies and grab same
whether or not there's a true interest. Maybe something as simple as not
having them within arm's reach can help. They're visible but have to be
requested.
