Seems to me that a poll is just that, a poll.  No poll on any subject 
cannot cover all the possibilities, so there's alyays going to be 
someone feeling left out.

It also strikes me that this mystery manufacturer already has a rough 
idea as to what he would be WILLING to produce and is merely seeking 
some guidance as to what would be the best return on HIS investment.

Still, I suppose he could just forget the whole thing....
