Now THAT sounds like a good use of the NASG.

P.S. None of this has any personal bearing, as I a purely scale and build
my own turnouts (when necessary) in codes 55 through 100.
What I am going to propose is a test of all S gauge turnouts for a
comparison like we have seen done in Model Railroader. This testing would
be out in the open and away from any bias with the results published in as
much of the S gauge press as possible.
The testing would involve the running of trains, not pushing trucks through
the turnouts. And certainly not just measuring turnouts to one set of
standards, which as little bearing for the vast majority of S gauge
equipment. All S gauge equipment will be represented - Flyer, Hi-rail and
scale. All turnout manufacturers will have their chance to show the S world
what their turnouts can do.
To keep the testing above board, I would hope the testers would be from all
aspects of S. I would welcome the NASG to sponsor the testing - maybe it
could happen at the NASG convention in Baltimore this summer.
