Check schedule online, if possible. MARC does not run on some weekend days -
perhaps only Sunday. At least from BMI to DC Union Station. Amtrak is
available on any NE corridor train.

Bill,
        Last time I checked MARC would take you from Baltimore to DC on two

different routes, the NEC or the old B&O.  The Washington DC station  
is within walking distance to the Mall where there is  enough tourist  
stuff to keep you busy for days.  There is also access to the Metro  
at the train station.  I would bet you could access a MARC timetable  
on line.
