. . . . .Is there anyone else that has been quietly thinking about starting
[S-modules] as well?

My club's main interest right now is a new portable layout, NOT to S-Mod
standards. But there is a small but determined faction within our club that
sees value in, and wants to continue with our SCALE S-Mod modules. We are
still maintaining and improving those modules. We had them at the National
Train Show, connected with the NASG "switching module."

We could go off line and swap ideas.

I've thought about that for some time. Many people have ideas for modules,
including ideas that suggest the standards need revision. We could either
go off-line, or start another Yahoo group, since module construction is
probably of interest to only a small minority of the S community.

I don’t see myself taking them to a convention since if I drive there is no
room for my wife.

A statement that begs comment, but Ed's done it already. However, more
realistically, I have spent money on roof-racks for vehicles, and to have
sacks of waterproof material made by local awning companies specifically to
fit some of my modules. It depends on how far you want to get into this.
