Hello, All!

A recent thread on this forum concerned a photo of Ed Louzeaux's
layout in the December, 2007 Model Railroader, and the perception that
S scale trains are 'toys.' On Monday I bought a copy of that issue at
a bookstore, and it came wrapped with an "introduction to model
railroading" brochure. S is mentioned among the various scales:

"Slightly smaller than O scale is S scale (1:64 proportion). These
locomotives and cars, originally popularized by American Flyer, run on
rails spaced 7/8" apart. Unlike their toy predecessors, today's S
models are as highly detailed as trains in other scales."

Ignoring the mathematical discrepancy, I think we can all be satisfied
with the wording of this explanation.
