and he muses -

One might say that we've received a "Papal Bull", and that's a lotta 'Bull".

BTW, NASG has had a few non-scale executives - Ed Schumacher being
the most prominent and Lee McCarty comes to mind. I'm sure there were
more. I was (and still am) into converted Flyer so I guess I'm in both camps.

Realistically speaking, where would S Gauge (or NASG) be without the
Flyer and Hi-Railers. I'm not being critical but more curious. For
several years now, both AM and SHS have offered the same product in
Scale or Hi-Rail. If we took away the Hi-Rail sales, would they be
able to offer the variety we see today? If we take eBay as an
example, the Flyer column is more often than not twenty times the
size of the "other" category and many items listed there are non-S items.

It's interesting that the general category is "S Scale" even though
the preponderance of items are tinplate. I'm sure eBay appreciates
both but it's obvious where they derive revenue. Drop the Flyer
listings and S Scale would still be listed under 'Other Scales"
(where it was years ago).

I would be interested in the percentages of buyers in either Scale or
Hi-Rail - might be enlightening!
