Michael,
I certainly would never retreat back to DC. With that being said there
are some frustrations that do bother me which I've mentioned in the past
several days. Most of them obviously come from the fact that there are
more features in systems than most people need-just like computer
systems and software. If you don't need the features they either will
never will be seen or pop up confusing you at the worst possible time.
The Tsunami sound system is really easy to get doing, but if you look at
the advanced book (one of three) where they attempt to talk about all
the features that only a sound engineer could appreciate or even begin
to understand.
And like computers, DCC is really just getting started. I did a lot of
work in the computer/software field, including working on the N
ASA space shuttle. The problem I always had was the system was always
in flux and the technicians just knew enough to get by. I would ask to
make some changes and they couldn't. So you have the same decisions to
make--if I buy now how long before it becomes junk when the new model
comes out--or if I don't buy now I'll miss the neat things I can have
now! I can understand why some folks just put it off and ignore the
whole thing.
Just make it fun!
Bob Werre
