Hello Bill -

Sorry to take up list space with this but my Outlook Express will not reply to
individuals.

You reported: "Can someone post something about a project that you are
modeling?"
I answer: "Yes, I have been working on aligning an experimental turntable on my
layout."

You reported: "they both left because the group had over 300 e-mails that had
nothing to do with S scale model railroading."
I respond:"I don't know what 300 they are referring to - I know there have not
been 300 Wiki references because I have kept most of them. Wiki critics have
seriously misjudged the potential of the wiki system. I believe that a
successful system will boost S-scale. The more people who get involved the
sooner it will happen."

You reported: "sometimes a lot of the same thing is too much for some people..."
I respond: "understood - but this complaint could be applied to almost anything
- for instance 'scale vs gauge'"

You reported: "can you go off list and between yourselves with some of your
posts until you are better established?
I respond: "yes, we are doing this already."

You report: "Thank You,"
I respond: 'You are welcome."

Bill, do you wonder what it is about Wiki that has so excited 10 (at least)
people? Can you imagine an internet source like an encyclopedia that is
devoted exclusively to S-scale? Can you imagine that this encyclopedia is kept
up to date by the people who use it? It does not gather web dust like so many
special interest sites that are never updated.

I believe that Wiki exchanges on this list are as appropriate or more so than
discussions about magazines or what happened in the good old days or who is
selling the latest big brass loco. How many members are in the market for a
$2000 loco? A functioning Wiki system will help all S-scalers, it will help in
recruiting, and it will help those with products and services to sell.

Please be patient, Bill and others. This is a worthwhile experiment. It is
creating a community of S-scalers in the same sense that NASG does but its
reach and compass will be greater.

Sincerely,

Art Armstrong
